CHRISTUS Health is currently engaged in contract negotiations with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and if a new agreement is not reached by July 1, 2025, thousands of patients across Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana could lose in-network access to CHRISTUS Health doctors and hospitals. This dispute could lead to higher healthcare costs and concerns for patients who use CHRISTUS facilities. According to CHRISTUS Health, despite months of negotiations, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas has been unwilling to seriously consider their requests for equitable reimbursement rates needed to cover the rising costs of providing quality healthcare. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas stated its focus is on keeping care affordable and available for its members, and that members will still have access to a network of providers even if an agreement with CHRISTUS Health is not reached. Both parties expressed hope for a resolution before the deadline, and patients are advised to check their plan benefits and explore alternative providers if necessary. [28, 40]

CHRISTUS Health is participating in the annual "Spark Good. Change Kids' Health." campaign in partnership with Walmart and Sam's Club. This initiative, running from June 9 through July 6, benefits six CHRISTUS Health ministries through Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals). Additionally, CHRISTUS Health is highlighting community health observances in June, encouraging blood donation for World Blood Donor Day on June 14 and promoting routine screenings and checkups for Men's Health Month.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and CHRISTUS Health are currently engaged in contract negotiations, according to a notice issued by BCBSTX on June 5, 2025. If a new agreement is not reached before July 1, 2025, CHRISTUS Health doctors, hospitals, and other facilities in Texas will no longer be considered in-network for HealthSelectSM network members. This potential change could result in significantly higher out-of-pocket costs for patients receiving services at CHRISTUS Health locations after June 30, 2025, although emergency services would continue to be covered at the in-network benefit level. CHRISTUS Health has stated they have been negotiating with BCBSTX for months to secure a reasonable insurance reimbursement rate and are working hard to keep healthcare costs affordable while providing high-quality care. Patients are encouraged to contact BCBSTX to express the importance of CHRISTUS Health remaining in the network. Continuity of care options may be available for certain conditions under state or federal law if the provider leaves the network, including treatment for serious or complex conditions, inpatient care, scheduled non-elective surgery, pregnancy, or terminal illness. CHRISTUS Health has expanded its services in West San Antonio with the opening of a new hospital addition at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – Westover Hills. A ribbon-cutting and grand opening event was held on June 2, 2025, marking the unveiling of the 164,000-square-foot addition. This expansion significantly increases the hospital's capacity and capabilities, adding 100 new private patient beds and incorporating modern hospital designs and the latest technology. The new facilities include 30 new private post-partum rooms, a newborn nursery, an obstetrics emergency room unit with private rooms, 44 new adult intensive care beds, 20 neonatal intensive care beds, and an expanded pharmacy. The addition aims to make high-quality maternal and pediatric care more accessible in the rapidly growing west San Antonio area, building on CHRISTUS Health's legacy of caring for entire families. The expansion reflects the organization's mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and meets the increasing healthcare demands of the community. [1]

CHRISTUS Health has formed a new scholarship partnership with the University of Dallas, located in Irving, Texas. This agreement makes employees of CHRISTUS Health eligible for a tuition scholarship amounting to one-fifth of the tuition for graduate programs at the university's Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business and the Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts. This initiative is aimed at developing leaders within CHRISTUS Health and expanding access to values-driven graduate education to support their associates' growth and leadership in service to their communities. The College of Business is committed to cultivating leaders who make a positive impact, while the Braniff Graduate School focuses on renewing the Western heritage of liberal arts and the Christian intellectual tradition.
