Kara Rother, who previously served as vice president and CNO of INTEGRIS Health Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City since 2023, has been appointed as the chief nursing officer for Mercy's Oklahoma City market, effective July 21. According to a news release from Mercy on June 13, Rother was selected from a national pool of candidates. She brings 18 years of healthcare experience to her new role, having started her career as a post-anesthesia care unit nurse. [8]

A 15-year-old boy who suffered severe, life-threatening burns in the Oklahoma wildfires in March was discharged from INTEGRIS Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City after an 82-day hospital stay. Will Conley was injured on March 14 while attempting to escape a wildfire with his father, who tragically died. Will suffered third-degree burns covering 67 percent of his body and underwent 18 surgeries, including extensive skin grafts, during his time in the pediatric intensive care and burn units. He lost his ears, nose, and hands in the fire. His mother, Deborah Ferguson, expressed relief and pride in her son's resilience. Will was celebrated by hospital staff, family, and friends upon his departure and will continue his recovery and begin the process of being fitted for prosthetic hands at Bethany Children's Health Center.
