Recent updates from Memorial Hermann facilities in the Pearland-Friendswood-Manvel area highlight several expansions and service enhancements. Memorial Hermann Pearland recently completed an expansion project that added 33 beds, including intensive care unit and universal care spaces, to better meet patient needs. Additionally, the Pearland hospital introduced a modern MRI suite to enhance its diagnostic capabilities. In terms of community access, a new Convenient Care Center is anticipated to open in Alvin sometime in 2025. Further regional growth was noted with Memorial Hermann-GoHealth opening an urgent care center in Manvel, aiming to extend care access for residents in the surrounding communities. Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital also made improvements, redesigning its imaging department to incorporate a new MRI machine and a designated CT scanner to improve patient care. This location also opened a retail pharmacy accessible to staff, physicians, and the public, and established a community resource center offering tools and support for residents. Finally, the cardiac rehabilitation services at Memorial Hermann Southeast were relocated to a larger space to accommodate a greater number of patients. [19]

Students from Nimitz High School's Health Education and Learning (HEAL) program are participating in the second annual Summer Infusion Experience in partnership with Memorial Hermann Health System. The program, detailed in an article dated June 9, 2025, includes a series of hands-on learning opportunities throughout June. Specific events taking place within the past week included a Mentorship Experience on June 6th (though the article is dated the 9th, the event is prior to the 10th), a session on Life Flight, Stop the Bleed, and First Aid on June 12th, a Career Fair and Pathway Decision Day on June 13th, and a Wellness Day for 10th-grade students on June 16th. The program aims to immerse students in healthcare environments and help them explore medical careers, gain life-saving skills, and interact with healthcare professionals. The HEAL program is a four-year initiative supported by a significant investment from Bloomberg Philanthropies and is expanding to include more grade levels.

Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital is preparing for a significant $277.5 million expansion project slated to begin in the fall of 2025. This will mark the third expansion for the hospital since it first opened eight years ago in 2017. The expansion, which is being privately funded by Memorial Hermann, involves the addition of two new buildings and the renovation of existing facilities. A key component of the project is a new six-story Patient Bed Tower, with the structural capacity to expand to eight floors in the future. This tower will house TIRR Memorial Hermann inpatient rehabilitation services, including 12 inpatient rehabilitation beds and a dedicated gym. It will also add 40 universal beds, initially increasing the hospital's licensed bed count to 201, with the potential to reach 345 beds when the tower is fully occupied. The hospital's long-term master plan allows for over 400 licensed beds. The second new building will be a three-story annex connected to the main tower, designed to nearly double the size of the emergency room and include 8 dedicated pediatric emergency rooms. The annex will also add four new operating rooms with space for up to six more in the future, an additional cardiac catheterization lab/neuro endovascular suite, and a shell for future growth. Additionally, the expansion includes renovations to the main tower to enlarge the kitchen, sterile processing area, laboratory, and pharmacy, along with the addition of 500 more parking spots to the parking garage. The entire expansion project is projected to be completed in 2027. [20]

Memorial Hermann Health System is utilizing ambient AI from Ambience Healthcare to enhance clinical care and documentation for its emergency physicians. Facing high patient volumes and complex documentation needs, Memorial Hermann implemented the ambient AI platform to allow clinicians to document patient interactions in real time without compromising quality or time. Dr. Michael Bublewicz, ER physician and Chief Medical Officer at Memorial Hermann, discussed the health system's experience during a recent Becker's Healthcare webinar, alongside Dr. Will Morris, Chief Medical Officer at Ambience Healthcare. Memorial Hermann initially piloted the technology before their Epic EHR go-live, finding significant improvements in documentation speed and completeness even in the non-integrated phase. Following full integration with Epic, adoption accelerated across both ambulatory and emergency settings. The flexibility of the platform and early involvement of revenue cycle and compliance teams were credited for the successful implementation and ensuring coding integrity. Memorial Hermann plans to expand the use of ambient AI across other clinical specialties, anticipating continued positive impacts on documentation quality, provider engagement, and patient satisfaction. The initiative is seen as a step towards making care more human by leveraging technology. [1, 4]

This declaration honors the contributions of the nursing staff at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. Nurses from the hospitals were present at Houston City Hall for this recognition.
