Mohan Suntha, MD, MBA, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). He has spent his entire career with UMMS, starting in 1991 as a radiation oncology resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). Dr. Suntha joined the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1995, becoming a tenured professor and the inaugural Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Professor of Radiation Oncology in 2008. He is recognized for his expertise in managing head and neck and thoracic malignancies and has conducted research in this area. Prior to his current role which he assumed in late 2019, Dr. Suntha held several leadership positions within the system. He served as President and CEO of University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center from 2012 to 2016, and as President and CEO of the University of Maryland Medical Center from 2016 to 2020. He also served as Vice President for System Program Development for UMMS from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Suntha earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and his Bachelor of Arts from Brown University. He has maintained faculty and clinical appointments throughout his administrative career and has been recognized as a "Top Doctor" in radiation oncology multiple times by Baltimore Magazine.
Lisa Adkins is the Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). In this role, she is responsible for the overall direction of the compliance program and reports to the chair of the UMMS Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors. Before joining UMMS, Adkins served as the vice president of compliance and chief compliance and privacy officer at Children's National Health System, where she was instrumental in building and directing the organizational strategy for their compliance and ethics program. Kara Bowman Borcz is the Chief of Staff at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). In this position, she offers strategic management support, serves as a liaison to the UMMS Board of Directors and senior leadership, and helps manage the daily functions of the executive office. Before her time at UMMS, where she started as the senior director for public affairs, Borcz worked for over five years in Governor Hogan's administration. During her tenure in the Governor's office, she was a key advisor and later the Director of Public Affairs, responsible for communicating with internal and external stakeholders and advising on the executive office's daily operations. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from George Mason University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Exeter in the UK. Kristin Jones Bryce is the Senior Vice President and Chief External Affairs Officer at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), where she oversees government relations, corporate social responsibility, and public and regulatory affairs. She joined UMMS in 2015. Prior to her time at UMMS, she served for 10 years as chief of staff to Speaker Michael E. Busch in the Maryland House of Delegates, and before that, was the Speaker's legislative counsel. Ms. Jones Bryce began her career in Annapolis in 1997 as a policy analyst for the Department of Legislative Services, serving as committee counsel to the House Economic Matters Committee with a focus on health and insurance issues. She holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts, graduated cum laude, and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law, being admitted to the Maryland bar in 1998. She also serves as a trustee on the Governing Board of the Living Legacy Foundation and was named one of the Baltimore Sun's "50 Women to Watch" in 2013.
Matthew Clark is the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), a position he has held since June 2020. In this role, he oversees all aspects of the system's communications and marketing, including executive communications, media relations, internal communications, external marketing, branding, advertising, and public relations. He also contributes to setting and implementing UMMS's overall strategic direction. Before joining UMMS, Clark served in the office of Governor Larry Hogan as Chief of Staff from 2017 to 2020 and as communications director from 2015 to 2016. His work in the Governor's office included strategic planning, crisis management, and policy development. Prior to his time in state government, Clark was a managing director at FTI Consulting, specializing in strategic communications. Earlier in his career, he worked as a journalist. Clark is a graduate of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
Alicia Cunningham is the Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance and Revenue Advisory Services at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). She holds an MBA from the University of Baltimore and has over 30 years of experience in healthcare finance. Cunningham is recognized as an expert in Maryland's unique hospital reimbursement environment. In her role as SVP at UMMS, she is responsible for the strategic and operational activities related to reimbursement, revenue advisory services, payer relations, and contracting. This includes ensuring compliance with state hospital reimbursement regulations, directing negotiations for hospital charge structures, and developing strategic revenue initiatives with the Health Services Cost Review Commission. Cunningham joined UMMS in 1996 as the manager of reimbursement and clinical economics for the University of Maryland Medical Center and has been a key contributor to the growth of the health system. Prior to UMMS, she was the director of financial planning and reimbursement at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and a healthcare consultant at KPMG. She has also served on the CRISP board, Maryland's state-designated health information exchange.
Richelle Webb Dixon, MS, FACHE, is the Senior Vice President and System Chief Administrative Officer at the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). She is an experienced healthcare executive with over 20 years in hospital operations, ambulatory care, medical education, and community advocacy. In her role at UMMS, she works with the executive management team on planning and executing initiatives at both the corporate and local levels. Prior to joining UMMS, Webb Dixon served as senior vice president and chief operating officer at Froedtert Hospital, an academic medical center affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin. She also held various healthcare operations leadership positions for 17 years at Catholic Health Initiatives/CommonSpirit, one of the largest healthcare systems in the U.S. Webb Dixon holds a Master of Health Services Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and a past national president of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE). She has also served on the national board of the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives.
