L.A. Care Health Plan is working with community health centers to raise awareness about the importance of Medicaid [11]. L.A. Care's CEO and community health center leaders are speaking about the matter [11]. L.A. Care GAAINS Grantee has also launched a PSA campaign to raise awareness about Black Maternal and Infant Mortality in Los Angeles County. The campaign is titled "The Best Gift" and addresses the high rates of Black maternal and infant mortality [11].

The L.A. County Department of Public Health partnered with Undue Medical Debt, a national nonprofit, to eliminate medical debt for residents [16]. Notices were mailed starting May 19 to nearly 135,000 residents informing them that their debt had been abolished through the relief program [16]. The county says just over $1 million in county funds will eliminate $183.5 million of debt [16]. Residents are eligible if they earn less than or equal to 400% of the federal poverty level (for a family of 4 this year, that's $128,600) or owe the hospital 5% or more of their annual household income [16]. The initial participating hospitals were MLK Community Hospital and Adventist Health White Memorial Hospital [16]. The county’s goal is to eliminate $500 million in medical debt with county funds, and up to $2 billion with outside aid [16].
