Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville announced on June 4, 2025, that it will be submitting a request to the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency to change the location for its approved Certificate of Need (CON) to build a new 12-bed hospital. The new proposed site is a 10-acre property situated immediately next to the current Tennova ER – Sango. Tennova stated it had been actively pursuing this change prior to recent announcements by Ascension and HCA/TriStar Health regarding their intentions to apply for CONs for new hospital facilities in Clarksville. Tennova's original plan, dating back to 2021, was to build a 12-inpatient bed satellite hospital with a 14-bay ER on Trenton Road. The new plan shifts this facility to the property adjacent to the existing ER on Highway 76. According to a news release, Nashville-based healthcare systems might be more inclined to transfer patients to their larger facilities an hour away, and the newly proposed hospitals by competitors have limited beds and services that could duplicate those already offered at Tennova Healthcare - Clarkville. Tennova believes its existing presence and proposed facility remain the best option for expanding healthcare services in the rapidly growing community, arguing that the other proposals do not increase the availability of higher acuity care or needed services like behavioral health. Tennova hopes the CON change request process will be completed by mid-July.

The original plan, announced in 2021, was for a site on Trenton Road. The new proposal is to relocate the facility to a 10-acre property adjacent to the existing Tennova ER on Highway 76 in Sango. This announcement follows recent plans by other hospital systems to build in Clarksville. Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville CEO Drew Emery stated that the decision to change the location was influenced by significant increases in construction costs since the original plan was approved.

Tennova Medical Group welcomed Maximillian Martinez, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon, to their team at Tennova Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Clarksville. Dr. Martinez, who earned degrees from Boston College and Tufts University, will see patients at 1810 Madison Street, Suite B. Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville is collaborating with Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee to open a Milk Drop Depot in the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This depot will provide a convenient location for pre-screened and approved milk donors to drop off frozen milk donations, which will then be transported to Murfreesboro for processing.
