R. Lawrence Moss, MD, FACS, FAAP

President and Chief Executive Officer

With more than 25 years as an academic surgeon and physician executive, Dr. Moss became increasingly concerned by how America's health care system narrowly defines health and consistently incentivizes complexity and volume of medical services over outcomes. He joined Nemours Children's to focus the next phase of his career on transforming the definition of children's health and fundamentally changing the financial incentives determining their care.

Gina Altieri, CPA

Executive Vice President, Chief Communications Officer

Gina Altieri, CPA, is the Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief Communications Officer at Nemours Children's Health. She has been a key member of the Nemours leadership team for over a decade. In her role, she has been instrumental in developing and implementing the system's digital and consumer-centric strategy, including overseeing the launch and expansion of a mobile app for patients with chronic conditions and helping to launch the Center for Health Delivery Innovation. She was promoted to her current position just before the COVID-19 pandemic and managed the implementation of virtual rounding and telehealth tools during that time. Altieri also previously held the title of senior vice president, corporate services at Nemours. She was recognized as a winner in the Health Care Communicator of the Year category of Ragan & PR Daily's Communicator of the Year Awards. Prior to her role at Nemours, Gina Altieri was President of Phenix7 Mktg. Inc., where she worked as a marketing strategist and innovator for over 25 years.

Robert D. Bridges, CPA

Executive Vice President, Chief Executive, Florida Operations

Robert D. Bridges, CPA, is the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive of Florida Operations at Nemours Children's Health. He has a tenure of 24 years with the organization, and in recognition of his service, Nemours established the Robert D. Bridges “Elevating Children's Health” award, which is presented annually to a community champion who aligns with his vision for pediatric well-being. Previously, Bridges served as the Executive Vice President, Enterprise Services and CFO at Nemours.

James P. Digan

President, Nemours Children's Health Alliance Executive Vice President, Chief Development Officer

James P. Digan is the President, Nemours Children's Health Alliance and Executive Vice President, Chief Development Officer at Nemours Children's Health, having joined in the summer of 2020. He is responsible for the strategic leadership and guidance of fundraising efforts across the five states served by Nemours Children's Health. With over 30 years of experience in academic and hospital fundraising, Digan is recognized nationally as a leader in the field. His previous roles include serving as President of the Baylor Medical Foundation and Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Baylor College of Medicine. Before his time at Baylor, he was President of Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation and Vice President of International Outreach for Nationwide Children's Hospital. Digan also held leadership positions as President of the Rochester General Foundation for Rochester General Health System and Executive Vice President for Development and Chief Advancement Officer at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is an alumnus of Colgate University and also serves as a director for the Zweig Foundation.

Carrie W. Grant, MBA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC

Executive Vice President, Chief Nurse Executive, Florida Operations

Carrie W. Grant, MBA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC is the Executive Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive for Florida Operations at Nemours Children's Health. She is an accomplished nurse and senior healthcare executive with experience at leading healthcare systems, including Mayo, Baptist Health, and Intermountain. Prior to her current role at Nemours, she served as the Chief Nurse Executive and EVP of Florida Operations for the organization. She has also provided guidance with The Institute for Healthcare Excellence for nearly 10 years. Carrie W. Grant holds an MBA and a BSN. She is also a Registered Nurse (RN) and board certified as a Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC).

Mary M. Lee, MD, FAAP

Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief Scientific Officer, Physician-in-Chief, Delaware Valley

Mary M. Lee, MD, FAAP, is the Executive Vice President and Enterprise Chief Scientific Officer, and Physician-in-Chief, Delaware Valley at Nemours Children's Health. She is also a Professor of Pediatrics at Sidney Kimmel School of Medicine, Jefferson University. Dr. Lee is an internationally recognized physician-scientist with expertise in developmental reproductive endocrinology. Her research interests include the biology and regulation of Mullerian inhibiting substance, sexual differentiation and intersex disorders, testicular differentiation and development, the effects of environmental toxins on reproductive development, and the gonadal toxicity of chemotherapy and radiation for childhood malignancies. Her research has been funded by the NIH, the Hood Foundation, and the March of Dimes. She has a significant history of funded and published research and is nationally recognized for her work in endocrinology. Prior to joining Nemours, Dr. Lee served as Physician-in-Chief, and Professor and Stoddard Chair of Pediatrics at UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center and University of Massachusetts Medical School. She also served as the pediatric lead for the UMass CTSA. Dr. Lee earned her MD from the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and her AB from Harvard College. She completed her Pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital of Buffalo and a fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. She also completed a research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Lee has held leadership roles in numerous professional organizations, including serving as the immediate past-president of the Pediatric Endocrine Society and a past-president of the American Society of Andrology. She has also chaired several study sections at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and served on the Scientific Advisory Council for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences at NIH. She has been recognized among the Best Doctors of America and Top Pediatricians in America.

Jane Mericle, DNP, MHS-CL, RN, CENP

Executive Vice President, Chief Nursing and Patient Operations Officer, Delaware Valley

Jane M. Mericle, DNP, MHS-CL, BSN, RN, CENP, is the Executive Vice President, Enterprise Chief Nursing Executive and Patient Operations Officer at Nemours Children's Health. She has over 40 years of experience in healthcare with expertise in clinical quality and patient safety, strategic planning, and operational management. Prior to joining Nemours, Dr. Mericle served as Associate Chief Nurse for Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center. Dr. Mericle holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, where she was named the 2020 Founder's Medalist. Her doctoral project focused on improving professional well-being for nurse managers using a LEAN approach. She also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Columbia University and a Master of Science in Clinical Leadership (MHS-CL) from Duke University School of Medicine. She is certified in Executive Nursing Practice (CENP). In her role at Nemours, she is responsible for strategic planning and implementation, promoting safe patient care practices, ensuring evidence-based care delivery, and continuous improvement. She recently led Nemours Delaware Valley through Magnet redesignation. Dr. Mericle is also a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, and an executive leader for LEAN. She has served on the Board of Trustees for Mercy Children's Hospital Services and is currently the president of the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association, Delaware Division, New Castle County. She has received numerous professional awards throughout her career and has been a featured speaker at various national forums.

Mark Mumford

Enterprise Chief Operating Officer

Mark Mumford is the Enterprise Chief Operating Officer of Nemours Children's Health. He is a member of the Executive Cabinet, reporting to Nemours President and Chief Executive Officer R. Lawrence Moss, MD, FACS, FAAP. Mark is based at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware. Mark joined Nemours on September 1, 2020, and is responsible for all clinical operations at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware and Nemours Children's Health, Florida. He oversees the entire care continuum across the system, including all primary, specialty, ambulatory surgery, partnerships and community stakeholders across Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida. His efforts are in direct support of the vision of Nemours helping create the healthiest generations of children by going Well Beyond Medicine and addressing population health, prevention and wellness. Mark is a multifaceted and visionary leader with 30 years of experience helping complex organizations accomplish strategic and operational objectives. Prior to joining Nemours, Mark served as the Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Kara Odom Walker, MD, MPH, MSHS

Executive Vice President, Chief Population Health Officer

Kara Odom Walker, MD, MPH, MSHS is Executive Vice President and Chief Population Health Officer (CPHO) for Nemours Children's. She leads all aspects of population health strategy, research, innovation and implementation.

Sean D. Baptiste

Executive Vice President, Chief People Officer

Sean D. Baptiste serves as the inaugural Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer (CPO) for Nemours Children's. He is a member of the Executive Cabinet, reporting to Nemours President and Chief Executive Officer R. Lawrence Moss, MD, FACS, FAAP. As CPO, Sean is the cultural champion and driving force for maintaining and cultivating a culture of wellness across Nemours. Our bold vision of creating the healthiest generations of children requires an equally bold commitment to building the healthiest workforce in America. He joins Nemours from RWJBarnabas Health, where he held multiple leadership roles in human resources, most recently, Vice President of Talent and Innovation.

Caswell L. Samms, III, MBA

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Caswell L. Samms III, MBA, is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Nemours Children's Health. He brings over 25 years of progressive experience in large healthcare systems. Prior to joining Nemours Children's Health, Samms served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at St. Joseph's Health in Paterson, New Jersey. His executive experience includes budgeting, revenue cycle, business development, and operations. Before his time at St. Joseph's Health, he was the Vice President and CFO at WellStar Health System in Marietta, Georgia, and the Network CFO for New York City Health and Hospitals. Samms holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Virginia State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Regis University. He is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He has been recognized among Becker's Hospital Review's Rising Stars and Diversity MBA's "Top 100 Under 50 Executive Leaders."

Martha McGill, MBA, MHA

President, Central Florida

Martha McGill serves as President, Central Florida, and is a member of the Florida Executive Cabinet reporting to the enterprise Chief Operating Officer. She is based in Orlando and joined Nemours in 2015. In addition to hospital operations, Martha is responsible for building and integrating Nemours network of practice sites and partnerships across Florida. Martha brings more than 30 years of clinical operations and executive leadership experience in service line and program growth and development, margin improvement, physician enterprise management, merger and acquisition integration and government relations to her role at Nemours. Prior to joining Nemours, Martha served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Miami Children's Hospital (MCH).

Terry Anne Timmons

Senior Vice President, Human Resources

As Senior Vice President for Human Resources, Terry leads efforts to enhance people operations strategies, ensuring a seamless, world-class experience for our associates. With 20 years of dedicated service at Nemours Children's, she has been an invaluable resource across the organization, including serving as Interim Chief Human Resources Officer from January to July 2024. In her role, Terry serves as a lead advisor on HR matters and oversees Employee Health, Payroll, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, the HR Solutions Center and HR Operations/Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Terry previously held senior recruiting positions at ChristianaCare Health System, MBNA America and W.L. Gore & Associates before joining Nemours in 2004. Most recently, she served as Assistant Vice President of Talent Acquisition and HR Solutions.
