Robin Foster, JD, is the Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Children's Mercy Kansas City. He joined Children's Mercy in July 2013 as Senior Vice President/General Counsel and now serves on the senior executive team. Before joining Children's Mercy, Mr. Foster was a partner at the law firm Husch Blackwell LLP (formerly Blackwell Sanders Matheny Weary & Lombardi) in Kansas City for almost 31 years, starting in 1982. His private practice focused on strategic transactions, corporate governance, securities and finance, and regulatory compliance, with significant experience in the healthcare, energy, and other regulated sectors. Mr. Foster earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business administration from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, in 1978. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1982, where he was a member of the Missouri Law Review and elected to the Order of the Coif national law school honor society. He has authored published works on legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions, government regulations, and other subjects. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and participates in a forum for chief legal officers of independent U.S. pediatric hospitals. In 2018, he received the Missouri Lawyers Media In-House Counsel Award for the Healthcare Organization category.

Prior to that, she spent more than two decades at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the University of Cincinnati, where she held a variety of progressive leadership roles. These included Professor of Pediatrics, Director of the Mouse Echocardiography Core, Director of the pediatric cardiology fellowship program, and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Genetics service. Dr. James earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Medicine, graduating at the age of 20. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology, all at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also conducted research as a Research Fellow in the Molecular Physiology and Biophysics lab at Vanderbilt. Her educational background includes graduating Magna Cum Laude in chemistry from the University of West Virginia. A pediatric cardiologist with over 30 years of experience, her specialties include Pediatric Cardiology, Echocardiography, and Cardiac Genetics. Dr. James is also noted as the first woman in the 124-year history of Children's Mercy to permanently lead the Department of Pediatrics as Chair.
Dr. Shawn D. St. Peter is a Senior Vice President and Chair of the Department of Surgery, as well as Surgeon-in-Chief at Children's Mercy Kansas City. He also serves as the Program Director for the Center for Prospective Clinical Trials and Director of Surgical Research in the Department of Surgery. Dr. St. Peter is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. St. Peter earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed a surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN, which included a year of research at Oxford University in England. He then completed a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Children's Mercy Kansas City. With over 25 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. St. Peter is a board-certified Pediatric Surgeon and General Surgeon. He has been on staff at Children's Mercy Kansas City since 2006. His areas of interest include Pediatric Surgery, Esophageal Achalasia, Gastroesophageal Reflux Surgery, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, Minimally Invasive Surgical Procedures, Clinical Trials, and Pectus Deformity. He holds the Thomas Holder and Keith Ashcraft Endowed Chair of Surgical Research and has received the Golden Apple Mercy Mentor Award multiple times. Dr. St. Peter has an extensive publication record, including co-authoring over 400 original publications and two textbooks. He is also involved in several professional organizations, including APSA, IPEG, AAP, and ACS, and is president-elect for IPEG.
Ahmed T. Abdelmoity, MD, MBA, MS, FAAP, FAES, is the Vice President of Clinical Access, Associate Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, Division Director of Neurology, and Section Chief of Epilepsy at Children's Mercy Kansas City. He also holds the position of Melva Dessenko O'Donnell Endowed Chair in Epilepsy. Dr. Abdelmoity earned his medical degree from the University of Cairo School of Medicine in Egypt. He completed residencies in Child Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Children's Medical Center and Baylor University College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital, as well as a residency in Pediatrics at Texas A&M University/Driscoll Children's Hospital. He pursued fellowships in Clinical Research at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center/Children's Medical Center and Neurophysiology at Baylor University College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital. He is board certified in Child Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Epilepsy. Dr. Abdelmoity is also a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas School of Medicine for Child Neurology. He earned an Executive MBA in Healthcare Management and a Masters in Healthcare Leadership from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2023. His clinical specialties include Child Neurology, Ketogenic Diet, Epilepsy, and Intraoperative Monitoring.
Mary Tomlinson is the Vice President of Research and Sponsored Projects Administration for the Children's Mercy Research Institute in Kansas City. In this role, she is responsible for the daily operations of the Institute, aiming to ensure that research facilities, administration, and scientific operations efficiently support investigators and their research activities. Tomlinson's career in research administration began at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where she started as a staff accountant and advanced through progressively responsible positions to become the Senior Vice President for Research Administration. During her 30-year tenure at CHOP, she served as the Chief Administrative and Financial Officer for the Children's Research Institute and oversaw its growth from $10 million to over $350 million. Her accomplishments at CHOP include establishing internal controls for research operations, maintaining accreditation for the animal care and use program, and creating the clinical trials financial management office. She also led the implementation of an institute-wide electronic workflow for key business processes and developed the Research Institute operations manual. Tomlinson holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Stockton University and a master's degree in business administration from Drexel University.
