TidalHealth Nanticoke has launched a new robotic bronchoscopy system, positioning itself as a provider of advanced technology for lung disease diagnosis and treatment on the Delmarva Peninsula. This system, based on the Ion platform, allows for highly precise and minimally invasive sampling of lung tissue, which is particularly valuable for detecting and diagnosing lung cancer. The technology enables physicians, such as Dr. Kurt Wehberg and Dr. Ammar Alhaddad, to safely access and biopsy small, difficult-to-reach areas within the lung. The advanced robotic technique is expected to offer superior accuracy and safety, potentially reducing complications and shortening patient recovery times. The system boasts a diagnostic yield exceeding 85 percent, which can contribute to earlier detection and intervention for lung diseases. [23]

TidalHealth has been named to Epic's "Honor Roll" at the Cum Laude level. Epic is a leading provider of electronic medical records (EMR) systems. This recognition is for TidalHealth's achievements in optimizing its EMR system and implementing best practices across nine components, including ease of use for providers and nurses, enterprise data and analytics, financial aspects, health information exchange, infrastructure stability, patient experience, population health, and staying current with Epic's features. As a result of this accomplishment, TidalHealth has been awarded a grant of $291,000 in credit. These funds will be used for current and future Epic advancements to enhance TidalHealth's electronic health record infrastructure and patient care systems. Dr. Mark Weisman, Vice President of Information Technology, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Medical Information Officer at TidalHealth, stated that this recognition highlights the team's dedication to using technology to improve patient outcomes and streamline workflows. TidalHealth hospitals in Salisbury and Seaford currently use Epic, and Atlantic General Hospital is expected to transition to the same system in early 2026 after recently joining TidalHealth. [6]

TidalHealth Peninsula Regional announced that Shaneatha “Neat” Austin, a Patient Care Technician in the Behavioral Health Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), was selected as the May 2025 Sunshine Award recipient. Austin was recognized for her compassion, dedication, positivity, and professionalism. Her nomination highlighted her efforts in connecting patients with resources, ensuring they had food, and providing support that helped a patient complete their treatment. She was also noted for her willingness to pick up extra shifts and provide care beyond her required duties, such as washing a patient's hair. Austin was honored in a ceremony and received flowers, a pin, and a certificate. [15, 12, 13]
