Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center (OHTLMC) has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the U.S. for 2025 by The Chartis Center for Rural Health [17]. OHTLMC was one of only two Kentucky hospitals to receive this award, with Bourbon Community Hospital in Paris being the other [17]. The award is based on the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, which assesses performance among the nation's rural hospitals [17]. Ashley Herrington, CEO of OHTLMC, stated that this recognition is a testament to the dedication of the hospital team in providing exceptional care [17]. Michael Topchik, Executive Director of The Chartis Center for Rural Health, noted that the award program identifies top performers and provides a roadmap for improving financial and operational performance [17]. The INDEX is described as the industry's most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance, utilizing publicly available data [17].

Owensboro Health is donating 17 parcels of land near its Parrish Avenue campus to kickstart a major affordable housing initiative, representing the first project of the Greater Owensboro Area Housing Collaborative [7]. The lots, located between Hathaway and Center streets, will be developed by Habitat for Humanity of Owensboro-Daviess County in phases over the coming years [7]. The City of Owensboro has pledged to support infrastructure needs, including sidewalks, fencing, and sewer and utility access [7]. The land donation marks the first significant step for the Housing Collaborative, which was launched 18 months ago by Owensboro Health to address the region's growing shortage of affordable homes [7].

Mark Marsh

President & Chief Executive Officer

Mark Marsh is the Owensboro Health's CEO. [14] He has led healthcare organizations in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Florida. [2, 10] He previously served as president of Health Central Hospital in Orlando, Florida. [2, 10] His 25-year executive career includes CEO tenures at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tennessee; Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg, Tennessee. [2, 10] He holds both undergraduate and master's degrees in healthcare administration from Western Kentucky University. [20] His professional distinctions include the 2003 'Young Healthcare Executive of the Year' in Tennessee and the WKU Distinguished Service Medal in 2009. [2, 10]
