Thousands of Ohio children covered by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield's Medicaid plan may lose in-network access to Nationwide Children's Hospital. According to Dr. Rustin Morse, chief medical officer at Nationwide Children's, negotiations with Anthem have not resulted in an agreement that would keep the hospital as an in-network provider for their Medicaid plan. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther has voiced concerns that this would force approximately 5,000 vulnerable families to seek care elsewhere starting May 1st. While current Anthem Medicaid patients are encouraged to keep scheduled appointments, the hospital stated it would work with Anthem to cover costs. This issue specifically affects those with Anthem Medicaid, not those with Anthem through their employer. Nationwide Children's is currently in-network with six of the seven Medicaid insurance plans in Ohio. [3, 5]

Nationwide Children's Hospital is hosting its Summer Scientist Education Series, which began on Thursday, June 12, 2025. On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, police in Columbus were searching for a missing 10-year-old girl who was last seen near Nationwide Children's Hospital. The Columbus Division of Police reported that Menorah Wynn was last seen around 4:45 p.m. in the area of Butterfly Gardens Drive and Wetzel Road. She was described as 4 feet tall, weighing 70 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white pajama shirt, butterfly pajama pants, and brown and gray boots. Later the same day, it was reported that the case had been resolved, indicating the girl was safely located.
