Capital Health had reported a disruption of hot water services in May 2025, but on June 4, 2025, informed the Department of significant structural issues leading to the emergent closure. Capital Health announced the emergency closure of its Satellite Emergency Department and outpatient clinic located at the former St. Francis campus on Bert Avenue in Trenton. This decision was made after structural engineers, architects, and demolition experts advised Capital Health that significant structural issues with an adjoining building posed a threat to the safety and integrity of the leased space. To ensure the safety of patients, employees, and visitors, operations ceased immediately. The outpatient clinic closed at 4:30 p.m. on June 4th, and the Satellite Emergency Department stopped accepting patients at 7 a.m. on June 5th. Patients requiring emergency or acute care are being diverted to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton and Capital Health Medical Center-Hopewell in Pennington. Outpatient clinic patients are being directed to other Capital Health facilities.
