Saint Francis Health System announced on Thursday, June 12, 2025, that it has reached an agreement with Dallas-based Integrative Emergency Services (IES) to provide physicians and advanced practice providers for its six emergency rooms. This transition is expected to be implemented in approximately 90 days. IES is described as a physician-led organization with a strong reputation for clinical excellence and operational efficiency, handling over 2 million patient visits annually. IES leadership has already commenced meetings with the current Saint Francis emergency room physicians and providers to facilitate the transition process. Barry Steichen, Saint Francis Health System Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, stated that this partnership is part of Saint Francis' commitment to providing high-quality emergency care in an evolving healthcare landscape. Saint Francis previously partnered with US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) for these services and thanked them for their 17 years of collaboration. IES Chief Medical Officer Dr. John S. Garrett expressed IES's commitment to partnering with hospitals and care teams to deliver exceptional patient care. Saint Francis operates emergency rooms at its main hospital (Adult and Pediatric ERs), Saint Francis Hospital South, Saint Francis Glenpool, Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee, and Saint Francis Hospital Vinita.

Saint Francis Health System and the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Medical Authority are partnering to establish a Level I Trauma Center in Tulsa. This collaboration is made possible through recently passed state legislation, House Bill 2784 and House Bill 2793, which create a formal public-private partnership for the development of a Level I Trauma Center in Eastern Oklahoma. According to the American Trauma Society, a Level I Trauma Center provides comprehensive care for all aspects of injury, from prevention through rehabilitation. This new center is expected to significantly enhance access to the highest level of emergency care for residents in Eastern Oklahoma, potentially reducing the need to transport critically injured patients to Oklahoma City or other distant locations. Officials emphasized that having a Level I Trauma Center in Tulsa will mean faster, more coordinated emergency response, which is crucial when dealing with life-threatening injuries. Saint Francis has been working towards establishing a Level I Trauma Center for over a decade and is currently in the final stages of preparing for adult Level I Trauma verification by the American College of Surgeons, with a survey anticipated this year. Saint Francis Health System is making significant progress on three major construction projects across eastern Oklahoma, which are set to reshape healthcare in the region and create nearly 700 permanent jobs. These projects include a $70 million expansion at Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital, adding 60 new acute psychiatric beds, a crisis center, renovated administrative spaces, and an expanded kitchen and dining area, with completion expected by the end of 2026. Saint Francis Hospital South is undergoing a $258 million expansion that will add 283,600 square feet of new and 51,000 square feet of renovated clinical space, including a new 120-bed patient tower, expanded surgery services with eight operating rooms, consolidated pre- and post-anesthesia units, and expanded inpatient physical medicine and rehabilitation services, scheduled for completion in 2026. Additionally, Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee is benefiting from a $275 million expansion that will add a new seven-story patient bed tower with 158 new patient beds, featuring an expanded 30-bed Intensive Care Unit and a 32-bed Progressive Care Unit, along with additional patient and visitor parking, slated for completion later in 2025.
