Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare is investing $51 million in a modernized, integrated EHR system following its acquisition of Warner Robins, Ga.-based Houston Healthcare. This investment is specifically for implementing Epic, a leading EHR system. The health system stated in a news release on June 4th that installing Epic will allow clinicians to provide more coordinated care across all Emory facilities and enhance both the patient and employee experience. Houston Healthcare officially became part of Emory on June 1st, following a letter of intent signed in August 2024 and a definitive agreement finalized in February.

Houston Healthcare will officially become part of the Emory Healthcare system on June 1, 2025, following final regulatory approval from the Georgia Attorney General's Office. This integration combines Houston Healthcare's two hospital campuses in Warner Robins and Perry, along with seven outpatient facilities and nine physician practices, into Emory's statewide network. Houston Healthcare, which serves over 300,000 patients annually and has 2,500 staff members and 200 physicians, initiated the merger process in August 2024 with a Letter of Intent and finalized a definitive agreement in February 2025. According to Dr. Joon S. Lee, CEO of Emory Healthcare, this unification will allow for the strengthening and growth of services for patients in Central Georgia and provide continuous high-quality healthcare. Charles G. Briscoe, President and CEO of Houston Healthcare, stated that this affiliation will reinforce their commitment to providing exceptional care and patient-focused services in the Warner Robins, Perry, and surrounding areas. Houston Healthcare – Warner Robins has been recognized by the American College of Cardiology (ACC) with Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation with PCI. This accreditation, awarded in April 2025, acknowledges the hospital's demonstrated expertise and commitment in caring for patients requiring cardiac catheterization, including diagnostic procedures and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Quinton Head, an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Supervisor at Houston Healthcare, was honored with the prestigious Georgia Hospital Hero Award by the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA). Head was one of only three individuals across the state to receive this award, which recognizes his extensive contributions and dedication to the EMS field and his community. The award was presented during a special ceremony at Houston Healthcare, celebrating his passion for service and efforts to improve health and wellness in the community. Colleagues and GHA leadership praised Head for his leadership, empathy, and role-modeling, noting that his commitment has significantly enriched both the hospital and the community he serves. Head has previously received other accolades, including Houston Healthcare EMT/Paramedic of the Year and EMS Provider of the Year for his region. [16]
