Madison County Hospital Health Systems, Inc. (MCMHSI), which oversees Madison County Memorial Hospital in Madison, FL, is undertaking a redevelopment project for the Madison Health & Wellness Center located at 224 NW Crane Ave. As part of this project, the hospital health system issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for qualified Florida-licensed asbestos abatement contractors. The scope of work involves the abatement of identified Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACMs) within the building to prepare it for demolition and subsequent redevelopment. The abatement must adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including EPA NESHAP, OSHA, and Florida DEP. The timeline outlined in the RFP indicated that proposals from interested contractors were due by June 6, 2025, with the award notification expected by June 30, 2025, and the project start (Notice to Proceed) slated for July 7, 2025. The target for abatement completion is August 31, 2025. The RFP details specific friable and non-friable ACMs to be abated, such as cloth vibration dampers, pipe insulation, vinyl asbestos tiles with mastic, exterior window caulking, and cementitious transite soffits and sinks. A site walk was available for contractors to verify quantities before submitting their proposals. The SESI Asbestos Demolition Survey & LBP Testing Report from December 4, 2024, was provided to support the scoping and proposal development for this significant step in the redevelopment of the Madison Health & Wellness Center.
