Adena Health officially broke ground on the new Adena Fayette Medical Center in Washington Court House, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. This event signifies a major investment in the future of healthcare in Fayette County and marks a new chapter for the health system's commitment to the community's well-being. The new facility will be a 25-bed critical access hospital designed to enhance local access to care, support economic growth, and continue a legacy of service spanning over seven decades. According to Jeff Graham, Adena president and CEO, the new medical center represents Adena's promise to deliver exceptional care, advanced treatments, and compassionate service for future generations. The project underscores Adena's belief that rural communities deserve innovative care and modern facilities. The 65,000-square-foot facility is slated to open in 2027 and will offer a wide array of services and patient-focused amenities. These include enhanced specialty care in areas such as orthopedics, oncology, pulmonology, and non-delivery OB/GYN, as well as robotic-assisted surgeries for improved precision and recovery. The new center will also feature expanded diagnostics with MRI, cardiac CT, and nuclear medicine, an on-site pharmacy, upgraded surgical suites, a progressive care unit, and private emergency and inpatient rooms. Public areas will be welcoming and include a chapel, family lounges, and expanded dining options, alongside improved parking and patient flow. Emily Johnson, MD, Adena Medical Group chief medical officer, highlighted that the design of the new medical center reflects the high standard of care provided by Adena's teams. Beyond healthcare provision, the hospital is expected to stimulate local economic development and attract top medical talent to the region, further strengthening Fayette County's future. The construction will take place behind the current hospital on Columbus Avenue, ensuring no interruption to existing services. The design incorporates elements reflecting Fayette County's farming heritage and ties to Washington Court House. [3, 6, 8]
