Executive Leadership

Mark C. Clement

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mark C. Clement is the President and Chief Executive Officer of TriHealth, a role he has held since January 2016, following his appointment as President in May 2015. A Cincinnati native, Clement is an alumnus of Xavier University, where he earned both his bachelor's degree in political science and a Master's in Hospital and Health Administration. With over 27 years in hospital administration, his extensive background includes serving as President and CEO at Rochester General Health System, Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, MetroWest Medical Center, and Holy Cross Hospital. He also held earlier positions at several other hospitals. Under his leadership, TriHealth has emphasized a population health model and has been recognized nationally for its clinical quality and efficiency.

Terri Hanlon-Bremer, MSN, RN

Executive Vice President

Terri Hanlon-Bremer, MSN, RN, is the Executive Vice President and System Chief Operating Officer (COO) at TriHealth, a role she has held since June 2022. Prior to this, she served as the Senior Vice President of Employer Solutions and Population Health at TriHealth. Ms. Hanlon-Bremer is a registered nurse with a master's degree in Nursing Administration and has over 30 years of experience in healthcare. She began her career as a cardiac nurse in 1987 and joined TriHealth's leadership team in 2007, taking on increasing responsibilities. Her background includes critical care and community health nursing. As COO, she focuses on elevating operational performance, driving integration, and accelerating TriHealth's population health strategy. She is recognized for her ability to manage complex initiatives while improving patient outcomes, team engagement, and customer satisfaction. Ms. Hanlon-Bremer has received numerous regional and national awards, including Modern Healthcare's 2022 Top 25 Innovators Award. She also contributes to community initiatives addressing childhood poverty and literacy.

Todd Anderson

Chief Financial Officer

Todd Anderson is the Chief Financial Officer at TriHealth. He has over 25 years of progressive health care finance leadership experience. Prior to joining TriHealth, Anderson served as CFO for Mercy Health Corporation, a seven-hospital system in Illinois and Wisconsin, since 2020. From 2011 to 2020, he was the Executive Vice President and CFO for Kettering Health in Dayton, Ohio. His background includes executive leadership in various aspects of health care financial operations, including managed care, revenue cycle, and pharmacy operations.

David Atkinson

Senior Vice President and Chief People & Culture Officer

David Atkinson serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief People & Culture Officer at TriHealth. In this role since November 2023, he is responsible for leading strategic HR initiatives for over 13,000 team members and physicians, focusing on talent acquisition and retention, employee engagement, and building the employer brand and culture. Atkinson has over 25 years of experience in organization strategy, business model development, and HR transformation. Before joining TriHealth, he held SVP and VP HR leadership positions at Atrium Health from 2019 to 2022, where he contributed to the system's growth and oversaw HR operations, workforce integration, and leadership structures during a period of significant expansion. Most recently, he was the SVP and Chief HR Officer for Advocate Health's Midwest Region. Earlier in his career, Atkinson was a senior leader in PricewaterhouseCoopers' (PwC) Global HR consulting services and spent 10 years as a senior operating executive and board member at the Cooper Clinic and Research Institute. He holds a bachelor's degree in health promotion and biomechanics and an MBA in organization design and change leadership. He has also completed postgraduate executive education at The Wharton School of Business.

Helen Koselka, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Helen Koselka, MD, is the Chief Medical Officer at TriHealth. She was appointed to this role in a unanimous vote in 2021, having previously served as TriHealth's interim CMO. Dr. Koselka's history with TriHealth spans over 26 years. Before becoming interim CMO, she was the regional Chief Medical Officer for TriHealth's Good Samaritan Region, a position she held starting in 2017. She initially joined TriHealth in 1995 as the Director of Ambulatory Education for the Internal Medicine Residency and later served as the Residency Program Director, Internal Medicine Department Chair, and Good Samaritan Hospital Executive Medical Director. Dr. Koselka earned her bachelor's and medical degrees from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine through the six-year Honors Program in Medical Education, where she also completed her residency. She is board certified in internal medicine and continues to actively see patients.

Thomas Shockley, Jr., MD

Chief Health Equity Officer

Dr. Thomas Shockley, Jr., MD, is the Chief Health Equity Officer at TriHealth. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and also holds the position of Associate Chief Medical Officer for the Bethesda North region at TriHealth. Dr. Shockley is an alumnus of Morehouse College and earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. He completed a general surgery internship at Meharry Medical College, an orthopedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and a fellowship at the Atlanta Sports Medicine Center. Before becoming Chief Health Equity Officer, Dr. Shockley was an orthopedic surgeon and medical director at the TriHealth Orthopedic and Sport Institute. He was appointed Associate Chief Medical Officer in 2022 and began his role as Chief Health Equity Officer in April 2023. In his capacity as Chief Health Equity Officer, he leads the development of TriHealth's Center for Health Equity, working to ensure equitable access, experience, and quality of care for patients and address health disparities in the community. His work as Associate Chief Medical Officer focuses on patient safety, quality, and reliable healthcare. Dr. Shockley is actively involved in medical associations and has participated in local health education programs. He previously served as a team physician for Finneytown High School.

Cindy Adams, RN, PhD, ANP-BC, NEA-BC

Senior Vice President

Dr. Cindy Adams, RN, PhD, ANP-BC, NEA-BC is the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive at TriHealth. She has a distinguished 40-year career in healthcare, encompassing critical care nursing, clinical research, nurse practitioner roles, and 14 years in executive leadership. Dr. Adams earned her PhD in Nursing with a minor in Health Economics from Indiana University. Prior to joining TriHealth, she held significant positions, including System Chief Nursing Officer at Community Health Network and Chief Nursing Officer at Ascension St. Vincent in Indiana. Her experience as a nurse practitioner includes work in emergency medicine, cardiology, and chronic disease management. She has also contributed to research, co-authoring ACC/AHA practice guidelines and publishing work primarily focused on heart failure management. Dr. Adams serves on multiple boards with a focus on nursing, the broader healthcare community, and workforce development.

John Ward

Senior Vice President

John Ward is the Senior Vice President of the Bethesda North Region at TriHealth, a position he assumed in September 2019. Before this role, he served as TriHealth's Chief Information Officer (CIO) from November 2014. His tenure with TriHealth and Group Health extends over 11 years. Ward's previous roles at TriHealth include Director of Health Systems Integration from 2007 to 2012 and Director of Ambulatory Systems in 2013, where he managed the implementation of the Epic electronic health record system for over 550 employed physicians. From 2004 to 2007, he was the CIO and Director of Business Development at Group Health Associates. During his time as CIO, TriHealth achieved HIMSS Stage 7 recognition for Hospitals and Ambulatory services and received eight consecutive HealthCares Most Wired awards. Ward holds degrees in Business Administration and Information Systems from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Georgetown College and the Dean's Advisory Board for the College of Informatics at Northern Kentucky University. He is also a member of professional organizations HIMSS and CHIME. In his capacity as Senior Vice President, Bethesda North Region, Ward plays a key leadership role in the region's strategic growth and major capital projects, such as the Thomas Comprehensive Care Center and the TriHealth Heart Hospital.

Steve Gracey

Senior Vice President

Steve Gracey is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for TriHealth. In this role, he is responsible for the planning, maintenance, and management of internal and external legal services for TriHealth and its affiliates, as well as advising senior leadership and boards on legal matters. Prior to his appointment as General Counsel, Gracey served as the Director of Risk Management at TriHealth, having joined the organization in 2011. Before joining TriHealth, he worked at several large regional law firms, focusing on defending mass tort product liability litigation for global pharmaceutical companies. Gracey is a graduate of Columbia University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Donna Peters

Senior Vice President

Donna Peters is the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at TriHealth. She began her career at TriHealth in 1998 as an applications programmer and has since held increasingly responsible roles in Information Systems (IS) leadership, including Project Leader and Vice President of Information Technology. She assumed the role of Senior Vice President and CIO in March 2023, after serving as interim CIO since September 2022. Peters is responsible for the strategic direction and operational performance of information systems, IS security, clinical informatics, and data and analytics for the organization. She is recognized for her collaborative servant leadership style and her commitment to advocating for patients, team members, and physicians. Peters holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from St. John's University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Virginia College. She is a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and CHIEF, a network for women executive leaders.

Steve Mombach

Senior Vice President

Steve Mombach is the Senior Vice President of Ambulatory Services and Network Development at TriHealth, having joined the system in May 2004. In this role, he has held various responsibilities including ambulatory operations, real estate, construction and development, facility maintenance and design, urgent care, and senior services. Mombach also oversees community partnerships, such as with Xavier University, and various specialty physician groups. Before his time at TriHealth, Mombach worked with older adults for over twenty years, addressing their needs in both nursing homes and through community programming. His experience spans facility operations, real estate, marketing and sales strategy, and general management. Mombach holds an undergraduate degree from George Washington University and a Master's degree in business from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Marla Santos Silliman

Senior Vice President Hospital Operations

Marla Santos Silliman is the Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations for the Good Samaritan Region at TriHealth, having joined the health system in 2018. In this role, she is responsible for promoting the TriHealth mission, core values, and vision through effective operational processes, quality initiatives, and financial management, as well as ensuring quality of care, service excellence, and community benefit. Before her time at TriHealth, Silliman served as the Senior Executive Officer for the Florida Hospital for Children and Women's Network since 2006. During her tenure there, she led the development, building, and oversight of the statewide children's and women's networks, including overseeing the construction of the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children and Florida Hospital for Women. She also led strategic development and oversight of numerous specialty programs and physician recruitment. Silliman began her healthcare career as a registered nurse, working in California, Massachusetts, and New York. Her professional background includes administrative roles in surgical services and ambulatory services, healthcare consulting, and senior leadership positions in children's hospitals. She holds a B.S. in Nursing from Atlantic Union College and an MBA from the Hagan School of Business at Iona College. Silliman is also a board member of the Mayfield Education & Research Foundation. She has been recognized for her contributions to healthcare, including being named one of Modern Healthcare Magazine's "Top 10 Women to Watch Nationally."

Bryan Strader, MD

President, TriHealth Physician Partners

Bryan Strader, MD, is the President of TriHealth Physician Partners. He joined TriHealth in 2006 and has 20 years of experience as a hospitalist. Prior to his current role, he served as Director of Hospital Medicine at Bethesda North Hospital for four years and as Chief of Inpatient Medicine for TriHealth for three years. He also served as the Physician Executive for the TriHealth Inpatient Institute and is currently the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Ambulatory Services for TriHealth Physician Partners. Dr. Strader is also the Chairman of the Board for the TPHO and has served as Board Chair for the American Red Cross Cincinnati Region since July 2022. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College and his medical degree from the University of Kentucky.

Rob Whitehouse

VP, Marketing & Communications

Rob Whitehouse is the Vice President of Marketing & Communications at TriHealth, joining the organization in August 2017. He is an experienced executive with a strong background in senior marketing and communications leadership within and outside of the healthcare sector. Before his tenure at TriHealth, he spent two years as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Community Relations at Summa Health in Akron, Ohio, where he oversaw marketing, advertising, public relations, corporate communications, and community relations, and led a brand launch for the health system. His prior experience includes communications and marketing positions at Goodyear Tire & Rubber, University Hospitals Health System in Cleveland, and Dix & Eaton, an integrated communications consultancy firm. He also worked in media relations at the Cleveland Clinic. Whitehouse holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Akron. He is an Ohio native.

Vesta Johns

Vice President and COO, TPP

Vesta Johns serves as the Vice President and COO, TPP (TriHealth Physician Practices) at TriHealth. She is the Administrative Executive for TriHealth Physician Practices and co-leads a multi-specialty group of almost 600 providers. Johns has a background as a Registered Nurse, holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA Passed), and a Master's in Business Administration from Xavier University. She has been the administrative chair of the TriHealth Physician Quality Committee since 2005. In 2012, the group received national recognition for their clinical implementation of TriHealth's Clinical Data Warehouse. Johns has been with TriHealth for over 25 years, starting as a night shift clinical nursing supervisor.

Gayle Mattson, RN, BSN, MHA

President and Chief Executive Officer Hospice of Cincinnati and System Executive Population Health Clinical Programs

Gayle Mattson, RN, BSN, MHA, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hospice of Cincinnati and System Executive Population Health Clinical Programs at TriHealth. She assumed her role at Hospice of Cincinnati in June 2019. Mattson is an experienced healthcare and hospice leader known for successfully implementing growth strategies, improving patient experience, and enhancing employee engagement. Her prior experience includes serving as President of Haven, a hospice in Florida, and as Chief Operating Officer of Pathways Home Health, Hospice and Private Duty in California. Earlier in her career, she spent 13 years as a registered nurse at Allina Health in Minnesota, where she progressed to administrative roles, including president of their home care, hospice, and palliative care business. She also served as President of North Memorial Medical Center in Minnesota.

Jennifer Skinner

Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Executive

Jennifer Skinner, MSN, BSN, RN, NEA-BC, served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive for TriHealth from October 2018 through June 2024, culminating a 46-year nursing career. Her career at TriHealth began as a staff nurse, and she held various managerial positions before a 15-year tenure as the Senior Director of Organizational Effectiveness. In her role as Chief Nursing Executive, she focused on ensuring a consistent patient experience and standardizing nursing care across the system, while also providing a nursing perspective on TriHealth's population health model and leading research on the evolution of nursing care. She was instrumental in achieving Magnet designation and re-designation for 10 TriHealth locations and leading the nursing team through the COVID-19 pandemic. Skinner's inspiration for becoming a nurse stemmed from her sister who lived with disabilities and needed an advocate. She earned her nursing diploma from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing, her BSN from Miami University, and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Xavier University. She is described as a servant leader who is transforming TriHealth and has participated in White House roundtables on building a skilled workforce and the Upskill America Summit.
