Victoria W. Bayless is the chief executive officer of Luminis Health, a Maryland multihospital system. [6, 12] She previously served as the president and chief executive officer of Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) from 2011-2019, and held other executive positions at AAMC since 2005. [6] Bayless has nearly 30 years of experience in management and leadership roles, specializing in strategic planning, health system operations, community health and outreach, medical staff relations, physician practice management, talent management and business development. [11, 12] She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves or has served on boards including The Joint Commission, the Maryland Hospital Association, and the American Hospital Association Region 3 Policy Board. [6, 12] Bayless received her bachelor of science from Tufts University and her master of health services administration from The University of Michigan School of Public Health. [6, 11]
Sherry B. Perkins, PhD, RN, FAAN, is the President of Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center and Luminis Health Chief of Hospital Integration. She has a career spanning 30 years in the healthcare industry, with leadership positions in prominent health systems in Maryland and Delaware. Prior to her current role, Perkins served as chief operating officer and chief nursing officer at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) from 2006 to 2016. She also held the position of president and chief executive officer at University of Maryland Capital Region Health. Perkins holds a BSN from Baylor University, an MS from Texas Woman's University, and a PhD from the University of Kansas. She is also a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania fellows program in management and the Brown University Leadership and Performance Coaching Program. In addition to her leadership roles, Perkins is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and serves on the Board of Directors for organizations including the Maryland Patient Safety Center, United Way of Central Maryland, and the Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Perkins has contributed to nearly 120 publications and has received awards such as the YWCA Tribute to Women and Industry Award and the Maryland Nurses Association's Outstanding Leadership Award. She has also been named an Influential Marylander by the Daily Record.
Deneen Richmond is the president at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center in Lanham, Maryland, and also serves as Luminis Health's Chief Quality, Equity & Population Health Officer. She has over 30 years of healthcare leadership experience. Prior to her current role, she was the Chief Quality, Patient Safety & Population Health officer for Luminis Health and before that, the vice president of Population Health & Clinical Improvement at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Richmond also held senior leadership positions at Inova Health System, Holy Cross Hospital, the Delmarva Foundation, and the National Committee for Quality Assurance. She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of the District of Columbia and a master's degree in health care administration from The George Washington University, where she is also an adjunct professor. Richmond is passionate about improving community health, promoting health equity, and eradicating health disparities.
Mitchell Schwartz, MD, is the President of Luminis Health Clinical Enterprise and Chief Physician Executive at Luminis Health. He joined Anne Arundel Medical Center (part of Luminis Health) in 1992 and practiced cardiology until 2010. During his time as a practicing cardiologist, he also served as the clinical leader of the medical initiative and executive director of Clinical Programs and Business Development. In July 2010, he was named chief medical officer and president of Physician Enterprise at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Dr. Schwartz became President of Luminis Health Clinical Enterprise in January 2020 and assumed the role of Chief Physician Executive in November 2022. In his current role, Dr. Schwartz is responsible for the system clinical platform, associated service lines, Luminis Health Medical Group, the Collaborative Care Network, and quality and population health initiatives. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1981 and earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1985. He completed his internship, residency in internal medicine (serving as chief resident), and a cardiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University – Carey Business School, obtained in 2013.
Timothy Adelman, Esq., is the General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer at Luminis Health. Prior to joining Luminis Health, he was a managing partner at Hall, Render, Killian, Heath and Lyman, P.C., a law firm specializing in healthcare law. Adelman is recognized as a national leader in the health law industry. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Health Lawyers Association for six years and now leads their 2030 Task Force, focusing on the future of the healthcare and health law industries. He is also a contributing author to the "Hearing Officer's Guidebook" and authored its 2010 supplement. Adelman is a frequent speaker on topics such as credentialing, peer review, and regulatory compliance. He holds a J.D. with honors from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and an MBA from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. He earned his BA with honors from Franklin and Marshall College. Adelman joined Luminis Health in October 2019 and played a key role in the integration of Anne Arundel Medical Center and Doctors Community Medical Center to create the Luminis Health system. He also previously served on the Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) Foundation Board of Directors.
Amy Beales is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Luminis Health, bringing over 17 years of experience in human resources leadership. She holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree of Science from Towson University. Prior to joining Luminis Health, Beales held senior leadership positions at the University of Maryland Medical System and Children's National Hospital, where she served as Interim Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer. Her experience also includes a period in financial services as a talent acquisition director at MetLife. Her career accomplishments include leading system-wide recruitment and retention efforts, promoting leadership diversity programs, and advancing community engagement initiatives. She is also a Fellow of The Advisory Board Company (FABC).
Catherine A. "Cathy" Martin, Esq., is the Chief Corporate Compliance Officer at Luminis Health. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring Luminis Health and its affiliated entities comply with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations, overseeing regulatory compliance, corporate compliance, internal audit, billing compliance, and HIPAA privacy. Martin has over 25 years of experience in healthcare. Before joining Luminis Health, she served as a Senior Technical Advisor with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). While at CMS, she was a key drafter of the Department of Health and Human Services' "Regulatory Sprint" to revise and modernize the Physician Self-Referral Law. Prior to her government service, Martin was a shareholder in the BakerOber Health Law Group at Baker Donelson, where she focused on compliance and regulatory matters for healthcare systems, hospitals, and providers. From 2003 to 2007, she was Senior Counsel with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where she developed advisory opinions and drafted regulations related to healthcare fraud and abuse. She is one of the primary authors of the OIG's electronic prescribing and electronic health records safe harbors under the federal antikickback statute. Martin holds a J.D. with honors from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and a B.A. with honors from Loyola College. She has been recognized in Chambers USA and received the 2020 CMS Appreciation Award. Martin is also a speaker on healthcare fraud and abuse, value-based healthcare, and compliance programs.
Ron Nolte is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Luminis Health, with over 15 years of experience in healthcare technology leadership. His expertise includes digital transformation, holistic technology adoption, and strategy delivery. Before becoming CIO, Ron Nolte served as the Vice President of Applications at Luminis Health and held the position of Associate CIO at LHAAMC. He also has previous tenures at Northwest Community Healthcare in Illinois and Epic in Wisconsin. Additionally, he has experience as a healthcare technology consultant for organizations such as Providence St. Joseph and New York City Health + Hospitals. Ron Nolte holds Bachelor's degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Mathematics and Statistics, and a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of South Alabama. He is a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer (CHCIO) and Certified Digital Health Executive (CDH-E) through the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. He recently led the Epic Refuel project, aimed at enhancing clinical and IT staff efficiency.
Stephanie Schnittger is the Chief Financial Officer at Luminis Health, bringing over 25 years of experience in healthcare finance to her role. She oversees financial operations, budgeting, planning and analysis, revenue cycle, managed care, treasury, and supply chain at Luminis Health. Before joining Luminis Health in April 2024, Schnittger served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance at Sentara Health for nearly five years. Her extensive background also includes more than two decades at Inova Health System, where she held various senior finance leadership positions, including interim CFO. Schnittger began her career at Ernst and Young LLP, where she conducted audit strategies in diverse sectors like healthcare and non-profit. She is a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and holds a Certified Public Accountant license from the state of Ohio. It has also been announced that she will be joining UVA Health as their CFO starting in July 2025.
