Amberwell Hiawatha's OB Nurse Morgan Alvarado, RN, was honored with the national DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award recognizes nurses who demonstrate compassionate and skillful care. Alvarado was nominated by a patient who praised her for going above and beyond during their hospital stay, providing excellent care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, and making the patient feel like family. The DAISY Award Foundation celebrates nurses who provide extraordinary care with clinical excellence and heartfelt compassion. The Amberwell Hiawatha Foundation is hosting its 24th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 14th, at the Hiawatha Country Club. This event is a fundraiser aimed at supporting advancements in local healthcare at Amberwell Hiawatha. According to a report from June 6th, team registration is currently open for those interested in participating in the tournament, which will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Funds raised from previous tournaments have helped Amberwell Hiawatha acquire significant medical equipment; for instance, the 2024 tournament's proceeds funded the purchase of a Lab Analyzer, a Handheld Ultrasound System, and a C-Arm 9900 Elite mobile imaging system, all intended to enhance patient care, testing speed, accuracy, and surgical procedures. Amberwell Health is inviting community members in Atchison and Brown Counties, including Hiawatha, to participate in updating the 2025 Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs). This process involves gathering input from residents and business leaders through surveys to identify community health strengths, gaps, and future needs. The CHNAs are used for long-term planning and collaboration among local organizations. Town hall discussions are planned for July 2025 to review results and identify priorities, with the Hiawatha town hall scheduled for July 22nd. Amberwell is partnering with an independent research firm, VVV Consultants LLC, to compile and analyze the survey data. [5, 8, 13]

Amberwell Health announced the launch of a new, free medication delivery service through Amberwell Pharmacy, expanding convenience for customers in several local communities, including Hiawatha. This service is available within the city limits of participating areas for all who use Amberwell Pharmacy, regardless of where the prescription was written for most locations, including Hiawatha.
