Mercyhealth is the first hospital in Wisconsin and the Rockford region to offer artificial intelligence (AI) decision-support software for atrial fibrillation procedures [18, 20]. Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center–Janesville and Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside are both offering Volta's AI technology, the first commercially available AI companion [20].

Mercyhealth has recently announced several updates. Notably, Mercyhealth is now offering behavioral health services at HealthNet of Rock County, with three providers seeing patients at HealthNet. In other news, Mercyhealth has become the first hospital in both Wisconsin and the Rockford region to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI), decision-support software for atrial fibrillation procedures at Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center–Janesville and Javon Bea Hospital–Riverside [12].

Mercyhealth is opening a new 19,000-square-foot cancer institute at 8201 E. Riverside Blvd. in Rockford, adjacent to Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside [13]. The Mercyhealth Cancer Institute will provide all aspects of cancer care, from detection through various treatment options, and will welcome its first patients on May 5, 2025 [13]. A flood in June 2018 that caused $30 million in damages to Mercyhealth’s Rockton Avenue hospital campus, where cancer care is currently provided, spurred the move [13]. Mercyhealth said it is committed to continuing to run its physician clinic on Rockton, where it has more than 500 employees and offers a number of medical specialties [13]. The institute also has the ability to participate in clinical trials for treatment [13].

Javon R. Bea is President and CEO of Mercyhealth, a vertically integrated, multi-regional system serving communities throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. He has nearly five decades of experience in the national health care arena and led the merger and integration of Mercy Health System and Rockford Health System to form Mercyhealth in 2015.
