A news report stated that in May 2025, Abilene Police reported a 23-year-old man committed suicide at Hendrick Medical Center [9]. The man told a nurse he was an organ donor and provided his blood type before shooting himself [9]. He was treated immediately but died shortly after [9]. Hendrick Medical Center South temporarily diverted patients while police investigated. Counseling services were offered to staff and witnesses [9].

Hendrick Health hosted a wellness fair on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mall of Abilene [3]. The event was aimed at helping people take charge of their health.
