Phil Stahel is the CMO of HCA Healthcare's North Carolina Division, which includes Mission Health, the state's sixth largest health system based in Western North Carolina. [1] Phil served as the chair of the Orthopedic Department at Denver Health, the regional level I trauma center and public safety-net hospital in Colorado, prior to joining HCA in 2017. [1] Among many accomplishments during his tenure as CMO in the Denver market, Phil supported the trauma program expansion at North Suburban Medical Center to a level II trauma center with recurrent zero-deficiency verification surveys. [1] Phil was appointed to the DCMO role in the HCA North Carolina Division in July 2022. [1] He also serves as a professor of surgery at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, and as teaching faculty for the GME residency programs at MAHEC. [1]
