Three hospitals within The University of Vermont Health Network have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report in their 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings. The University of Vermont Medical Center was once again named the top hospital in Vermont and received high performing designations for ten different procedures and conditions, including complex areas like heart bypass surgery, colon cancer surgery, and treatments for conditions such as heart failure and COPD. [3] Additionally, two of the network's community hospitals, Central Vermont Medical Center in Vermont and Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Northern New York, were also recognized for high performance in specific procedures and conditions. [3] Sunny Eappen, MD, MBA, President and CEO of the UVM Health Network, highlighted that this recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of their staff in providing high-quality care and reiterated the network's commitment as a nonprofit system to serving all community members, regardless of their ability to pay. The University of Vermont Health Network celebrated the graduation of participants from its Project SEARCH program, a initiative that helps young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities gain job skills and experience within a hospital setting. [4] The recent ceremony marked the program's tenth anniversary and honored seven graduates who spent the past year rotating through various departments at the University of Vermont Medical Center, gaining valuable skills and building confidence and independence.
