Emanate Health updated several key patient financial policies, including its Charity Care Policy, Discount Payment Policy, and Debt Collection Policy, with these revised policies becoming effective on January 7, 2025. The Charity Care Policy outlines the criteria for eligible patients to receive full or partial forgiveness of their hospital bills based on financial need. The Discount Payment Policy details how eligible patients can receive a discount that limits their hospital bill to no more than the highest amount expected to be paid by Medicare or Medi-Cal, and also explains available payment plan options. The Debt Collection Policy specifies when and how patient debt may be sent to collections and the regulations that must be adhered to during this process. Additionally, an updated application for Charity Care and Discount Payment became effective on May 1, 2024, allowing patients to apply under the revised guidelines in anticipation of the policy effective dates.

Emanate Health, based in Covina, California, announced layoffs impacting a total of 107 employees. According to WARN notices obtained by Becker's Hospital Review, 63 of these layoffs will affect per diem, part-time, and full-time positions across the health system. The remaining 44 layoffs are a result of the permanent closure of Emanate Health Home Care and Emanate Health Imaging, effective December 9. Affected roles include those in management and corporate safety and security. The health system stated that these decisions were made due to "unprecedented and sudden challenges from the industry that are affecting many California hospitals," emphasizing that the changes were carefully planned to avoid impacting the provision of high-quality healthcare services.
