The initiative utilizes the KATE AI software to support emergency department nurses and enhance patient safety and care efficiency during the triage process. KATE AI provides a second opinion by analyzing patient symptoms against deidentified historical medical records data to offer information about the appropriate level of care. This technology is intended to complement the expertise of nurses, help verify care plans for higher-risk or complex patients, improve the recognition of numerous high-risk conditions, increase triage accuracy, potentially reduce emergency wait times and hospital stays, and promote health equity by identifying and mitigating biases in triage. Adventist HealthCare Physician Alliance, a clinically integrated network part of Gaithersburg, Maryland-based Adventist HealthCare, has partnered with Culina Health, a digital platform providing clinical nutrition care. This collaboration aims to expand access to virtual nutrition counseling services for patients within the alliance's network of over 2,400 providers. The partnership allows Adventist physicians and their patients direct access to Culina Health's registered dietitians for personalized, virtual, and insurance-covered nutrition counseling covering various needs, including cancer care nutrition, pediatric and family nutrition, diabetes management, and sustainable weight loss. This initiative supports the shared goal of increasing access to nutrition care as a crucial element of overall health and addresses the fact that many patients may not be aware that such services can be covered by insurance.
