St. Dominic Health, a hospital within the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS), has adopted the InVision Pathology Imaging System. This infrared imaging technology is designed to improve the identification of lymph nodes in surgical specimens during cancer treatment with the goal of better assessing the stage of cancer in patients. St. Dominic Health is using this technology for various cancers requiring lymph node analysis for staging, including breast, colon, small bowel, stomach, and pancreatic cancers. According to Dr. Teri Dyess, chief medical officer at St. Dominic, this advancement empowers the clinical team with advanced diagnostics to serve the community's health. A study cited showed the system increased lymph node detection in a high percentage of cases and led to staging changes in a small percentage, with no added risk. Dr. Randall Smith, a pathologist at St. Dominic Health, noted the technology provides a significant advantage in more efficiently and reliably determining cancer stage through lymph node analysis, which can impact a patient's treatment journey and success. The InVision system was recognized as one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2023. St. Dominic Health is the first hospital in the southeastern region to adopt this system. [15, 18, 30]

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS) has launched Season 5 of its ParentingU podcast. The new season focuses on summer safety and aims to provide parents with expert pediatric guidance for a safe, healthy, and active summer. Hosted by Stephanie Roussell, senior director of brand and strategy at FMOLHS, the podcast has garnered over 10,000 downloads and 3,000 video views in previous seasons, serving families across Louisiana and Mississippi. Season 5 will feature eight episodes released every Thursday through July, covering topics such as water safety, road trips, bug bites, ADHD, and seasonal allergies. The third episode specifically features Dr. Kristen Sandoz, a pediatrician with Our Lady of Lourdes Children's Health, discussing water safety and hydration tips. Each episode is complemented by additional resources like blog content, visuals, and social media tips, with the goal of offering encouragement, expertise, and health education to parents.
