The third annual LECOM Behavioral Health Breakthrough Awards are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 18th at 5 p.m. in Gannon University's Yehl Ballroom. This year, the awards will honor John DiMattio, the Director of Human Services for Erie County. He is being recognized for his significant leadership and decades of commitment to enhancing behavioral health services within the region. Dr. Danielle Hansen, Regional President of LECOM Health, commented that DiMattio perfectly embodies the spirit of a 'breakthrough' due to his collaborative efforts in making care more accessible and centered around the individual. The event is expected to draw representatives from over 30 local behavioral health and community organizations to celebrate notable contributions and ongoing progress in the field. [11]

According to recent news updates from the LECOM Student Government Association (SGA) Erie COM campus, several student club activities were highlighted. These include the planning for a Thanksgiving Food Drive collaboration between SOMA, Internal Medicine, and SAAO, intended to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania in November. Another event mentioned is 'Stop The Bleed,' a campaign aimed at preparing the public to save lives by teaching them how to control severe bleeding. Additionally, there were announcements for MMS Review Nights, providing a learning environment for students not yet in medical school, a Small Tools Sale by SOMA for MS1 students for the History and Physical course, and weekly SAAO forums for club members to enhance their OPP skills. LECOM Health has announced the appointment of Timothy McGahen, MBA, as the new Administrator of LECOM Health Corry Memorial Hospital. McGahen assumed this role effective June 1, 2025, following the departure of Dan Grolemund, who left to lead Warren General Hospital. In addition to his new administrative duties, McGahen will continue to serve as the Chief Financial Officer for Corry Memorial Hospital. He has been with Corry Memorial Hospital since December 2013, initially starting as the Director of Finance/Controller and later advancing to Chief Financial Officer.

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), part of the LECOM organization which includes LECOM Health, was recognized in the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Medical Schools report. LECOM is ranked 37th nationally for the most graduates practicing in primary care and 28th for most graduates practicing in rural areas among 170 schools. LECOM President and CEO John M. Ferretti highlighted that the consistent rankings reflect the faculty and staff's commitment to excellence. LECOM is also ranked 95th for most graduates practicing in Health Professional Shortage Areas. [11], [7]

LECOM Health announced that LECOM Medical Center's Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) program has received accreditation from Corazon, a national organization specializing in cardiovascular services. This accreditation signifies that the program at LECOM Medical Center meets or exceeds Corazon's standards, national guidelines, and the requirements set by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. This is a reaccreditation, indicating continued adherence to high standards in their cardiac catheterization services. [6, 8]
