Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine (RCIGM) announced that Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease has become the first Platinum member of the BeginNGS Consortium. This collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of newborn screening through whole genome sequencing to identify babies at risk for hundreds of genetic diseases early on and recommend effective therapies. The BeginNGS technology platform has shown promising results, reducing false positives by 97 percent and diagnosing genetic diseases earlier, potentially benefiting a significant number of infants.
