Executive Leadership

Kathryn Bertany, MD

Chief Executive Officer

Accomplished physician leader, came to Bozeman Health in 2019, transitioned to interim CEO in 2022, permanent CEO June 2023. Has a 20-year record of success in patient care and administrative leadership and 30 years of experience practicing medicine. Prior to her time with Bozeman Health, she served as executive medical director and administrator at St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise, Idaho. She is a pediatric hospitalist and continues to maintain a very limited practice in hospital pediatrics at Bozeman Health. Holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UNC at Chapel Hill, a medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine and a master's degree in business administration from the Columbia Business School.

Accepted the position of chief clinical transformation officer on the Bozeman Health executive team, effective January 3, 2022. Leads the health system to continually achieve safe, quality outcomes and exceptional patient experiences. Has been with Bozeman Health since 2007, starting her career as a registered nurse, then as a nurse educator. Held leadership positions as a magnet program coordinator, a patient safety coordinator, and then a system manager responsible for operations and strategy for informing clinical regulatory compliance decisions for the health system. Moved into a system director role in 2019 and was designated as the patient safety officer and quality management representative. Has led as Incident Commander for COVID-19 incident response, readiness, and recovery efforts. Holds a Master's in Nursing from Montana State University and a bachelor of arts from Carroll College in Helena, Montana.
