Walter L. Cathey has been appointed as the Regional Chief Executive of the Covenant Health System, with the appointment effective as of June 17, 2025. [12] He takes over the role from Richard Parks, who is retiring after serving as Covenant Health's Regional Chief Executive since 2010. Covenant Health announced on Friday, June 13, 2025, that it will be closing its Covenant Health West Texas Family Medicine clinic in Floydada, Texas, effective July 10, 2025. The decision was reached after careful consideration and attempts throughout the previous year to keep the clinic operational. According to Covenant officials, this was not an easy decision and involved a process of discernment rooted in the tradition of the Sisters of Providence and Sisters of St. Joseph, aiming to align the action with their mission and values.
