Primary Electronic Health Record System
Weill Cornell Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine utilizes the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. The patient portal used by Weill Cornell Medicine, including its Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, is branded as Weill Cornell Connect. This patient portal is the customized version of Epic's widely used patient portal, MyChart. Weill Cornell Medicine, in conjunction with NewYork-Presbyterian and Columbia University Irving Medical Center, transitioned to a single integrated Epic EHR system on February 1, 2020. This integrated system allows for a unified patient portal experience across these institutions, known as Connect. The Weill Cornell Connect portal provides patients with secure online access to various health management features, including viewing test results, scheduling appointments, communicating with providers, and accessing medical records. Prior to this integration, NewYork-Presbyterian had been using the Eclipsys EHR system, while Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University Irving Medical Center also utilized other systems, including Allscripts, before the move to Epic. The implementation of Epic and the unified Connect portal aimed to improve patient care by centralizing health information.
