Primary Electronic Health Record System
UBMD Physicians' Group utilizes the MyUBMD patient portal, which is powered by Follow My Health. This patient portal allows patients to manage their medical information online, including accessing health records, communicating with their healthcare team, requesting appointments and prescription refills, and viewing test results. Follow My Health, now known as Veradigm FollowMyHealth, is a cloud-based patient engagement platform designed to integrate with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This means that while UBMD uses Follow My Health for its patient portal, the underlying EHR system it connects to can vary. Follow My Health is described as being EHR-agnostic, allowing for a unified view of patient records even if different providers use different EHRs. According to a 2010 announcement, UBMD selected the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution to be used by its physicians. However, a more recent article from 2020 indicates that the electronic medical record (EMR) system in use at UBMD Physicians' Group is the same system being used for medical student training, which is a Cerner EMR educational domain as part of a collaborative initiative involving Kaleida Health, the University at Buffalo, and Erie County Medical Center. This suggests that at least some parts of UBMD may be using a Cerner EHR, which would integrate with their Follow My Health patient portal. The 2010 information about Allscripts might indicate that different departments or a transition in EHR systems has occurred within the large UBMD Physicians' Group over time.
