Research Analysis
Methodology & Findings

Columbia University Department of Medicine, as part of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, utilizes the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. The patient portal used by the Department of Medicine, in conjunction with NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine, is called "Connect". The "Connect" patient portal provides patients with secure online access to portions of their medical records, allowing them to manage their healthcare. This includes features such as viewing test results, scheduling appointments, paying bills online, and communicating with their healthcare providers. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian, and Weill Cornell Medicine transitioned to the integrated Epic EHR system and the shared "Connect" patient portal on February 1, 2020. This means that "Connect" serves as the patient interface for the Epic EHR across these affiliated institutions.
