NYC Retina (nycretina.com) utilizes Modernizing Medicine's Healthcare IT Suite, specifically their ophthalmology-focused Electronic Health Record (EHR) system known as EMA®. The patient portal used by practices on the EMA platform is generally referred to as the "Patient Portal." Modernizing Medicine also offers a smartphone application called APPatient™ that provides patients with similar functionalities to the web-based Patient Portal, such as accessing medical records, scheduling appointments, and communicating with the practice. Therefore, while "Patient Portal" is the likely branding, the APPatient™ app is also part of their patient engagement tools integrated with the EMA EHR system.
