Research Analysis
Methodology & Findings

Mount Kisco Medical Group (MKMG), now part of Optum Medical Care, is using the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system, which includes the MyChart patient portal. Previously, MKMG had utilized the NextGen Ambulatory EHR and NextGen Patient Portal. However, Optum Medical Care, under which MKMG now operates, has transitioned to a new EHR system, Epic, and adopted MyChart as its patient portal. This transition means that while historical medical information might still be accessible in a read-only format through the former NextGen portal for a limited time, all new health information and patient interactions are managed through the MyChart portal on the Epic system. MyChart is a widely used patient portal that allows patients to manage various aspects of their healthcare online, including scheduling appointments, viewing test results, requesting prescription refills, and communicating with their healthcare team. Optum explicitly states that they have transitioned to Epic, and MyChart is the patient portal included with this new system.
