Electronic Health Record System

Epic

Primary Electronic Health Record System

Research Analysis
Methodology & Findings

MetroPlusHealth, as part of the larger NYC Health + Hospitals system, utilizes Epic as its electronic health record (EHR) vendor. The patient portal associated with this EHR system is MyChart. NYC Health + Hospitals completed the transition to the Epic EHR system across its patient care sites, including hospitals and community-based health centers, by March 2020. This system, referred to as H2O (Health + Hospitals Online) by the health system, unified patient records and connected healthcare workers across numerous locations. A key feature of the Epic system implemented by NYC Health + Hospitals is the MyChart patient portal. MyChart allows patients to manage their health online, providing access to medical records, test results, the ability to message their care team, request prescription refills, and schedule or reschedule appointments. While MetroPlusHealth also refers to a "MetroPlusHealth Member Portal", the documentation regarding the NYC Health + Hospitals system wide Epic implementation clarifies that MyChart is the secure online portal empowering patients with access to their records within this integrated system. Therefore, the patient portal vendor/branding used by MetroPlusHealth, through its affiliation with NYC Health + Hospitals, is MyChart, which is the patient portal component of the Epic EHR system.
