Primary Electronic Health Record System
The Canandaigua VA Medical Center, like the majority of VA facilities, utilizes the My HealtheVet patient portal. This portal allows veterans to manage aspects of their healthcare online, including accessing medical records via features like the Blue Button. The underlying Electronic Health Record (EHR) system primarily in use across the VA, including likely at Canandaigua VA Medical Center, is the legacy Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture, known as VistA. The VA is in the process of modernizing its EHR system by transitioning to an Oracle Cerner system, but this rollout has been paused and, as of early 2024, had only been implemented at a limited number of VA medical centers, not including Canandaigua. Therefore, the My HealtheVet portal at Canandaigua VA Medical Center is currently connected to the VistA EHR system.
