About the Practice

The Arizona Perinatal Trust (APT), also known as the Arizona Perinatal Regional System, is a CDC-recognized perinatal quality collaborative and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to improve parent and infant health outcomes in Arizona by promoting quality, safety, equity, and inclusion. [2, 5] APT achieves its mission through advocacy, education, collaboration, and certification, operating a voluntary hospital and facilities perinatal certification program, conducting statewide perinatal data collection, management, and analysis, and offering educational programs. [2, 5] The organization specializes in perinatal health, working to improve the health of mothers and babies through a regionalized perinatal health care system and administering voluntary certification and accreditation programs for hospital perinatal and neonatal units. [6, 11] APT also collaborates with the Arizona Perinatal Education Coalition to provide training in basic and advanced maternal-child healthcare concepts for hospital staff. [15]

Research Analysis
Methodology & Findings

**Arizona Perinatal Trust (APT) Does Not Appear to Operate a Patient Portal for Direct Patient Care** Based on available information, the Arizona Perinatal Trust (azperinatal.org) functions primarily as a non-profit organization dedicated to improving perinatal health outcomes across Arizona. Its core activities include the voluntary certification of hospitals, statewide data collection and analysis related to perinatal care, and providing education to healthcare professionals. The role of the Arizona Perinatal Trust is focused on supporting healthcare providers and institutions rather than delivering direct patient care services. Programs like the High Risk Perinatal Program (HRPP), which works in conjunction with APT-certified hospitals, provide services to high-risk mothers and infants, but these services are facilitated through contracted hospitals and community health nurses, not directly by the APT itself. Consequently, the Arizona Perinatal Trust does not appear to operate a patient portal for individuals to access their personal health information. Patient portals are typically a feature of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems utilized by healthcare providers who render direct medical services to patients. While hospitals certified by the Arizona Perinatal Trust will have their own patient portals and associated EHR systems (such as Summit Healthcare using "Follow My Health"), these belong to the individual healthcare facilities and not to the Arizona Perinatal Trust organization.
