Hospital President, Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, St. Teresa and Rehabilitation Hospitals

Laurie Labarca brings nearly four decades of healthcare leadership experience. [5] She began her career at Via Christi as an Occupational Therapist in July 1985. [10] She was promoted to Clinical Coordinator for Occupational Therapy and later became the Director of Rehabilitation Services. [10] Her leadership roles have included Vice President of Operations for the Via Christi Rehabilitation Center and Via Christi St. Joseph, and Chief Operating Officer for the Rehabilitation Center, Via Christi Health Network and Via Christi St. Joseph. [4, 10] In 2020, she became President of Via Christi St. Teresa and Via Christi Rehabilitation Hospital. [4, 10] She earned her bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas in 1985 and her master's degree in Healthcare Leadership from Friends University in 2011. [5, 6] She has played a pivotal role in hospital administration, operations, and strategic development since 1995. [5] Her leadership impact includes restructuring Ascension Via Christi Research and advocating for increased behavioral health reimbursement. [5] She serves on several boards of directors, including CiBOR, GraceMed, Heartspring, and the Wichita Center for Graduate Medical Education, and contributes to the Wichita State University College of Health Professions Dean’s Advisory Board.
