Southeast Colorado Hospital District, located in Springfield, Colorado, has been providing comprehensive healthcare services to Baca County and the surrounding rural areas since 1969. As a Level IV trauma center with 23 beds, we offer a wide range of services, including emergency care, a 40-bed long-term care center, home health and hospice, a 16-bed Alzheimer's care unit, and an outpatient medical clinic. Our vision is to deliver an integrated healthcare system for our isolated rural service area through improved healthcare services. We are dedicated to providing safer, more comfortable, and convenient accommodations for the people of southeastern Colorado.

Chief Executive Officer/Administrator

Appointed as the new CEO in December 2024 as part of a new management agreement with Community Hospital Corporation (CHC). He brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare administration, having served in leadership roles at various community hospitals and health systems. He has a strong track record of improving patient satisfaction, driving financial performance, and fostering a positive organizational culture. A native of Western Kansas, Rex and his wife Kay have three children. He is a Certified Professional Manager and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), where he was previously the ACHE Regent for the state of Kansas. Walk has also served on and led various rural health related boards and has taught university and college level courses in healthcare administration.
