Michael Prilutsky

President & CEO, Jersey City Medical Center

Also serves as Executive Vice President, RWJBarnabasHealth. Mr. Prilutsky joined Jersey City Medical Center as Chief Operating Officer in 2016 and was named its President and CEO in October 2018. He has over 20 years in the healthcare industry and previously held leadership positions at Montefiore Health System, Northwell Health, and Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Finance Committee and on the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce, Board of Officers, as a Vice Chair. Under his leadership, the hospital has expanded service lines and established programs like the Trauma Recovery Center and the Green Apple Rx Food FARMacy to address social determinants of health. Joseph P. Anton

Chief Operating Officer

Appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer in March 2025. He manages the hospital's daily operations and collaborates with hospital leadership to support clinical services. Anton previously served as Senior Vice President of Operations at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. He is also a Registered Nurse with experience in critical care, emergency, and trauma before transitioning into leadership roles. [3, 18]

Ije Akunyili, MD, MBA, MPA, FACEP

Chief Medical Officer

Appointed as the new Chief Medical Officer, effective January 2, 2023. She is the medical center's first Black chief medical officer. Dr. Akunyili previously served as the regional medical director for TeamHealth, Northeast Group, overseeing emergency departments, critical care, and hospitalist service lines in multiple states. She also served as the chair of emergency medicine at Waterbury Hospital. [3, 19]
