Teresa C. Watson, MHA, is the President of Sentara Albemarle Medical Center (SAMC) in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. [1, 2] Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is a 182-bed hospital that serves seven counties in Northeastern North Carolina. [1] Teresa joined SAMC in August 2023, bringing 36 years of health care experience to this role. [1, 7] Teresa is responsible for implementing strategic initiatives, providing leadership to hospital and outpatient facilities' staff and ensuring the operational and financial success of the medical center. [1] Watson comes to Sentara from Atrium Health Lincoln in Lincolnton, N.C., where she served as the Facility Executive/President. [7] Prior to this role, Teresa served in various operational roles with Atrium Health including Vice President of Operations for Atrium Health Lincoln, Assistant Vice President & Practice Administrator, and Director of Primary Care for the Carolinas Physician Network. [7] While at Atrium Health, Teresa led construction management including planning, leading facility readiness, and move management for a $92 million replacement hospital and medical office building in addition to decommissioning of the former location. [1] Watson earned a Bachelor of General Studies from Appalachian State University, and a Master of Health Administration from the University of North Carolina – Charlotte. [7] Current Professional Affiliations include American College of Healthcare Executives, Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce (Ex-Officio Board Member), Elizabeth City - Pasquotank County Economic Development Commission (Ex-Officio Board Member), and Rotarian. [1] She also has a long history of community service, including tenures as a YMCA Board member, United Way Board President, American Red Cross Board member, Rotary Club member and Board member, and Foundation For The Carolinas member. [7] She and her husband, Jim, have one son, Cory. [7] Teresa loves being outdoors, especially on the water. She also enjoys hiking, gardening, and traveling. [7]
