Kevin B. Churchwell, MD, is Chief Executive Officer of Boston Children's Hospital, providing leadership, vision, and oversight for a team dedicated to improving and advancing child health through clinical care, research and innovation, medical education, and community engagement. [5] He joined Boston Children's as its Executive Vice President of Health Affairs Chief Operating Officer in 2013 and was instrumental in leading the hospital's work to become a High Reliability Organization. [5] He is an advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusivity and established the Office at Boston Children's in 2016. [5] Dr. Churchwell is a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Vanderbilt Medical School, and completed his pediatric residency and a clinical fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Boston Children's. [5] He is currently a Professor of Pediatric Anesthesia and the Robert and Dana Smith Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School. [5] He was named CEO effective March 31, 2021, and was previously President and Chief Operating Officer. [6]
Nancy Andrews, MD, PhD, has been Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Boston Children's Hospital since December 2021 and holds the Helen M. Ranney MD endowed chair. [7, 10] Prior to this appointment, she served for 10 years as Dean of the School of Medicine and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Duke University. [7] Before moving to Duke, she was on the faculty of Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she was an attending physician in hematology. [7]
