President of Hoke Hospital

Sonja McLendon, FACHE, joined Cape Fear Valley as President of Hoke Hospital in July 2024. Before this, she served as Chief of Operational Excellence at Northeast Georgia Health System and Interim President of the NGMC Barrow and NGMC Lumpkin campuses. Sonja holds a Bachelor's in Biology from UNC, a Master's in Education from the University of Virginia, and an MBA from the University of South Carolina. Sonja is also a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). In her role, Sonja is focused on enhancing patient care and operational excellence at Hoke Hospital, leveraging her extensive experience. Sonja and her husband, Scott, live in Raeford, NC and have a daughter and a golden retriever. Sonja enjoys yoga, hiking, travel, gourmet cooking, and collecting funny stories for a book she is writing.
