Since January 2017, Michael Ugwueke, MPH, DHA, FACHE has served as President & CEO of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, providing strategic leadership to the system at large, and oversight of the system's five-year strategic plan, MLH Reimagined. [1] The presidents of Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Methodist University Hospital and Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital report to him. [1] He previously held the role of president and chief operating officer (COO) of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in May 2014. [1] In 2013, he served as COO of Methodist, providing strategic and operational leadership for the system's five adult inpatient hospitals and affiliated companies. [1] He joined Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in 2007 as system senior vice president/CEO, Methodist South Hospital, a role he held until 2009. [10] Afterward, he was system senior vice president/CEO, Methodist North and South Hospitals, from 2009 to 2013. [10] He received a Doctorate in Healthcare Administration and Leadership from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, a Master's Degree in Public Health from Emory University and Bachelor's Degree from Shaw University. Prior roles include Director of Business Planning (1996-2001), VP/CFO, Methodist University Hospital (2001-2017), and SVP/Associate CFO, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (2017-2019). [12] Holds a Bachelor's degree and Master of Business Administration from the University of Memphis. [12]
Appointed Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President in May 2023. [14] Previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer from 2020 to 2023 and Senior Vice President/Chief Legal Officer between 2017 and 2020. [11] She is a member of the 10-person System Leadership Team and is responsible for system-wide operational areas including human resources, information technology, corporate risk, compliance and legal services. [11] Her responsibilities include ensuring the system delivers safe, high quality care, an outstanding patient experience and financial stability. [11] Prior to joining Methodist, she was Senior Vice President/Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at Regional One Health. [11]
