Recent News

Sheridan Memorial Hospital Chief Development Officer Cody Sinclair and Director of Philanthropy Liz Dearcorn recently appeared on Sheridan Media's Public Pulse to provide an update on the SMH Behavioral Health Unit and the "Growing for You" campaign. [9] The campaign is actively raising funds to establish a comprehensive system of care in Sheridan County for individuals facing mental health challenges, ensuring they have a dedicated place for treatment. [9] Dr. Michael Kinney, a specialist in Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine who arrived in Sheridan in Fall 2024, has been collaborating with SMH Director of Behavioral Health Brittany Goodvin to develop the unit, focusing on implementing necessary processes and practices. [9] Sinclair mentioned that Dr. Kinney has already engaged with approximately 300 community members. [9] Goodvin and other SMH leaders toured other mental health units in the Rocky Mountain Region to learn successful practices and procedures. [9] Dearcorn expressed being impressed with the progress of building the Behavioral Health Unit within the existing hospital space, noting that utilizing this space significantly reduced the work and halved the cost. [9] The fundraising has received financial backing from local and state governments, corporations, local businesses, foundations, and individual community members. [9] Currently, the Foundation is approximately $700,000 short of its fundraising goal. [9] Sinclair highlighted that the O'Dell family has established a match fund, offering to match donations up to $45,000. [9] Being involved in the entire process has reinforced for everyone the critical need for a behavioral health unit in the Sheridan Region. [9]
