Mike's strategic initiatives established several projects including the Griffith Emergency Room update (2004), the Watt Dialysis expansion (2007), a new Cardiac Catheterization Lab (2013), the Welch Cancer Center (2013), the upgrade and expansion of the Intensive Care Unit (2016), expansion of the Outpatient Care Center (2019), the development of the downtown Primary Care location (2022) and the new Transitional Care Unit (2022). [3] In addition to strategic planning, Mike directly coordinates all physician recruitment and retention. [3] He is striving to create a culture of kindness at the hospital and views leadership as a responsibility to put patients first. [9]
