Recent News

Jun 03, 2025
A group of 20 new physicians will be joining St. Bernards Healthcare in 2025, bringing 10 new or expanded medical specialties to northeast Arkansas and southeast Missouri. This incoming class includes doctors who have recently finished residences or fellowships, as well as experienced attending physicians. Approximately 20 percent of these physicians have ties to Arkansas or West Tennessee, having grown up there, while 70 percent completed their medical training in the region. Notable specialty highlights among the new physicians include hand surgery services, which were previously unavailable in the area, a tripling of capacity in neurosurgery (the only full-service provider for brain, spine, and peripheral nerve conditions in the region), and a strengthening of eastern Arkansas's largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with new neonatology expertise. Additionally, St. Bernards Medical Center's radiation oncology services, which hold American College of Radiation Oncology accreditation, will be enhanced. Other specialties covered by the new physicians include orthopedics, pulmonary/critical care, ENT, pathology, urgent care, emergency medicine, surgery, and hospital medicine services. This group of 20 physicians follows the addition of 18 new doctors in 2024, contributing to the recruitment of 94 physicians over the past five years while maintaining high retention rates. St. Bernards Healthcare encompasses three hospitals, including the largest regional hospital, St. Bernards Medical Center, a 457-bed acute care facility with a Level III Trauma Center and comprehensive NICU.
