Northwest Health – La Porte is hosting a free 'Understanding Pelvic Floor Health' seminar on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The seminar is being held in the Pine Lake Conference Room at the hospital located at 1331 State St., La Porte. Led by physical therapy specialist Erica McMahan, P.T.A., the session aims to educate the community about pelvic health issues, which affect millions of people. The discussion will cover the importance of the pelvic floor, understanding different types and causes of incontinence, the connection between pelvic pain and the back and hips, and how pelvic floor therapy can provide assistance. The seminar is open to both men and women, as pelvic floor disorders can affect individuals of all genders. Registration for this informative event is encouraged.

Northwest Health teamed up with the Zac Mago Foundation to offer preventative heart screenings for young attendees at the second annual Porter County Government Kids Health Fair. The event was hosted by the Porter County Health Department at the Central Park Plaza in downtown Valparaiso on the afternoon of Friday, June 13, 2025. The fair featured over 35 vendors providing information and services to families, with free athletic physicals, vision screenings, and immunizations also available. The collaboration between Northwest Health and the Zac Mago Foundation aimed to promote health among the region's youth by providing these vital screenings. Other participants included Denmark College offering health screenings and free haircuts, and Indiana University Indianapolis School of Dentistry providing free dental exams. The event was designed to inform the public about the various health resources available in the community.

Northwest Health - La Porte will be offering Safe Sitter® courses during the summer for students in grades 6-8. These courses, which teach how, why, and where injuries happen so they can be prevented, will be held at the hospital located at 1331 State Street in La Porte. Two dates are available for the class: June 9 and July 22, both from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program is medically accurate and has graduated over 775,000 young teens. [4, 24]

Northwest Health – La Porte hosted a free community wellness seminar titled “Stroke Out Stroke: Know the Signs, Know the Risks” on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. The seminar, part of the HealthyU community wellness series, took place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Pine Lake Conference Room at the hospital. Amanda Elkins, BSN, RN, stroke coordinator, discussed stroke awareness during the event, emphasizing the critical need to recognize early warning signs for better patient recovery and survival. This new technology aims to minimize trauma to surrounding tissues during minimally invasive procedures, potentially leading to faster recovery times and shorter hospital stays for patients. Northwest Health highlights this investment as a commitment to providing the highest standard of care and taking surgical technology to the next level in Northwest Indiana, stating it is the only system of its kind in the region. The robotic system provides surgeons with 100% control and includes over 150 enhancements compared to previous versions.
