Northwest Health welcomed cardiothoracic surgeon Sinan Simsir, M.D., to Northwest Medical Group [15]. Dr. Simsir brings over 20 years of experience in treating heart and lung conditions, offering advanced surgical knowledge and a patient-centered approach. He joined Northwest Medical Group - Cardiothoracic Surgery in Valparaiso [15].

Northwest Health – La Porte has once again received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, which is an independent national organization focused on patient safety [15, 20]. The “A” grade is the highest mark for quality and safety [15, 20]. Leapfrog assigns grades based on over 30 national performance measures that reflect errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm [20]. Mark Casanova, Chief Executive Officer at Northwest Health – La Porte, expressed gratitude to the staff for prioritizing quality care and ensuring patient safety [20].

Northwest Health announced the success of its Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, which collected 12,975 jars of peanut butter to support local food banks and combat hunger in the communities they serve [15].
