A Department of Veterans Affairs OIG report from February 2025 assessed VHA's oversight of third-party administrators Optum and TriWest concerning community care payments. The report covered six inspected VISNs, including areas of Illinois, finding high accuracy rates in payments to Optum for outpatient services but noting potential overpayments for dental services. The OIG issued recommendations to improve oversight.
