In response, the Defense Health Agency director issued a blanket waiver allowing West Region TRICARE Prime beneficiaries with a primary care manager referral for outpatient specialty care to proceed without TriWest approval through March 31, 2025. Referrals from the previous contractor were honored through June 30, 2025, or their expiration date. TriWest also improved its web portal for payments and is working to improve call center hold times.
